Surgical Technology:

The ST program prepares students for an entry-level position as a surgical technologist in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains.  Clinical training includes various hands-on skills practice in OR set-up, passing surgical instruments and sterile supplies to surgeons, scrubbing/gowning, and care and disposal of specimens.  Graduates are trained to work with and under the immediate supervision of registered nurses and surgeons in providing care to patients during critical periods of surgery.  Eligible graduates may obtain employment as a central supply technician or a surgical technologist in hospitals and other health-care facilities.
